Abstract

Listening to Sheffield is a web_based tool for combining a map locations with their actual enviromental sound. This software developed for exploring the Sheffield Acoustic Map data. The Sheffield Acoustic is a large collection of audio recording made while taking walking tours around the city center. The objective of this project is to make these audio recording useful in such an interesting way so people can locate where they are in the town. The project aims to produce system that will be accessible by frequently used digital devices

The website application was implemented using JSP and Servlets. The main achievements was implementing main requirement which is locating enviromental sound of Sheffield city center on Google Map, allowing users to contribute and submit their own data to the map.
