Mobile App for an Interactive Pedestrian Campus tour

Supervised by R.Gaizauskas

Abstract

Since the evolution of mobile phones, their usage has become more and more a significant part of our everyday life. Since this has occurred, it has given an important rise to applications such as navigation systems and ongoing research allows for these systems to be further enhanced and developed.

This project aims to develop an Android Mobile Application that can guide pedestrians exploring the University of Sheffield Campus as well as provide the user with sensible information about the Campus. This project is inspired by the SpaceBook Project which was produced by Edinburgh University.

This project focuses on a) the Mobile application's graphical interface, b) the user's location, c) routing the user to a destination and d) building a server to connect the mobile application with the other parts of this system. Thus, this is only one of three projects, while the other projects concentrate on the Dialogue System and Knowledge Bases & Question Answering.
