Modelling the effect of street trees

Supervised by A.Sharkey

Abstract

Agent-based Model (ABM) is a collection of agents which can make decisions. Each agent individually makes decisions on the basis of its situation and a set of rules. Agents may execute some behaviours according to their system. At the simplest level, an agent-based model is composed of a number of agents and the relationships between them. This project aims to using ABM to create a system in which through varying the number and size of street trees in a city, and to see the concomitant increases and decreases in the amount of pollution in that city. The system can also model other effects of street trees such as their ability to reduce flooding, and to reduce the temperature of a city.
