Supervised by S.Maddock

Abstract

There are many poses in many different areas. Poses are no longer just a way to express emotion. Nowadays, people like to recreate iconic statues and other images to commemorate the individual or character concerned, or to represent their spirits, and there are lots of digital technology in the museum now, such as a virtual assistance and a virtual tour guide.

This project aims to create a 3D museum. In this museum, it allows users to control and match poses by using human motion capture in real time. It also supports users to move around in it.

Microsoft Kinect  is used to character and map human motion. The Unity software is used to build the 3D museum and the pose match system. It feels like play a game in a virtual museum. This dissertation discusses the process by which such poses mentioned above can be reproduced in a virtual form, the best approach to working on such a project and the issues which need to be addressed in order to achieve this aim.
