The Applications of Wavelets to Image Processing

Abstract

    In recent years, image processing is one of the most rapidly developed field in the signal and image processing. The demand of the quantity of the image ask people to use improved methods to make  image more clear and contain less noise, besides that, the size of the image s are larger and larger now, therefore it is also important to compress the image in order to reduce the time of transfer the images. Compared with the traditional ways, the wavelet transform is a new development method that is wildly used in the image processing

  This project focuses on the application of the wavelet in the image processing. First, the wavelet transform is used  to remove the noise from the image and then is used to compress the image and find out which basic basic wavelet function has better performance when compress the image. The MATLAB will be used in the computational study. Wavelet toolbox in MATLAB will be used as well.
