Smart Media Tracking System

Abstract

It is a well known fact that people all over the world watch a large selection of TV shows and movies on a daily basis. Given this high rate of media consumption, it gets quite difficult to keep track of every single show, especially since they premiere on a daily basis, as reported by metacritic .com. Therefore, this project focuses on building a system capable of tracking movies and TV shows, incorporating a recommendation engine and social features (e.g. see what shows others are watching). The system will also be compatible with mobile devices like smartphones and tablets (using the Cordova / PhoneGap  framework) and will provide a browser extension for easy access and potential detection of a show being watched.
