Build a Calculator in Minecraft

Supervised by D.Sudholt

Abstract

This project is to design and build a calculator using the virtual sandbox game Minecraft . The game is very popular worldwide and is enjoyed by children and adults alike. With it's basic circuit creating functionality, the calculator will be designed to allow students of the COM1006 Devices and Networks module at the University of Sheffield to supplement their studies of logic gates and circuit design. In the future, it can hopefully be used to help the new batch of Computer Science GCSE students and teachers with their introduction to the subject area.

The project needs to have a clear design in both Logisim a nd Minecraft with many basic calculator functions being present. Outside of the functional requirements of the calculator, the project needs to be sure to stick to it's educational purposes. To do this, a clear structure which aligns to conventional logic circuit design practices will be used.
