Rewriting MOLE

Supervised by S.North

Abstract

The University of Sheffield currently uses MOLE by Blackboard to handle online  assessment delivery. Creating and delivering quizzes in MOLEs  system can be tedious and clunky. Question setup must be done via the system and cannot be done via import. Automated marking evaluation can be mundane as the system does not re-mark when corrections are made. This results in inefficiency in the assessment process due to time wasted.

This project has delivered a simple and easy to use web based quiz system capable of improving efficiency in the assessment process.

Through an extensive literature survey which analyses the assessment process, existing systems and technologies, and areas of best practice in web design, a set of requirements were identified and the system produced. The end product surpassed expectations in terms of quality, resulting from additional features provided to the system and web design practices employed during development. A sufficient foundation for improving the efficiency of the assessment process at the University was created.
