Online Language Learning and Social Interaction of International Students Studying in Foreign Universities with Real Time Communication

Supervised by F.Ciravegna

Abstract

Many subject areas now use online tools as teaching methods due to the number of easy-to-access technology available. This article evaluates the problem of integrating distance language learning with online real time communication. Many people find it difficult to integrate into a new environment with a different language and may struggle to interact well in social situations.

The idea of this project is to aim for a development of a new type of social media for an organisation such as a university where current members can teach future members about the culture of the local area and help them to improve their language skills if this is required.

The main achievement of the project was the use of the standard webRTC  in order to create an easy to use online  tool which can both allow language learning and social integration.
