My Asthma Kit: a mobile application for asthma management

Supervised by M.Villa-Uriol

Abstract

Over the past few years, mobile applications have become more significant in the healthcare industry, and researchers and developers are now empowered to develop high purpose applications for medical research which target various medical conditions.

This project aims to develop a mobile application for asthma patients to better control and manage their condition. Currently, there is no cure for asthma, and it is, therefore, imperative that the disease is controlled properly or else the outcome could be devastating. Through an extensive literature survey, several critical aspects of asthma management were considered in areas such as the use of medications, tracking of user specific symptoms and triggers as well as the use of personalised asthma action plans. These aspects formed the basis of the requirements and the resulting application successfully incorporates these features and a host of others to provide a platform which aims to help asthma patients experience fewer asthma-related limitations through improved health care and asthma best practices.
