Sunlight Exposure Calculator

Supervised by K.Bogdanov

Abstract

This project focuses on one of the disadvantages of living in the urban environment - the possible lack of Vitamin D. Caused by low amounts of direct sunlight in the everyday life surrounded by buildings. The main source of this vitamin is the skin which synthesizes it when exposed to direct sunlight. Deficiency is connected with bone structure issues, mental health problems and cancer. The technical advancement and widespread success of smartphones allows us to calculate and gather various types of data for the users and make use of it in real time. This project aims to track the user's movement in the urban environment and return statistical data about their sunlight exposure.
