Indexing system for movies and TV shows from Television/Satellite.

Supervised by K.Bogdanov

Abstract

Nowadays, online TV shows are being extensively viewed everyday and nearly a billion of movies are currently available on the Internet. Therefore, there is an immediate need to keep track on both movies and TV shows. Besides, it is important to keep not only the video files, but also information about them. To address this issue, the aim of the project is to design and implement an indexing system for movies and TV shows. While much effort has been devoted to design the movies and TV shows database, the system incorporates many important features. It provides users with means of organizing and maintaining their personal collection of movies and TV shows. Moreover, it enables them to retrieve information about crews and movies from Internet sources such as IMDB. A detailed description of the development of the project is presented, from database engine selection and graphical user interface presentation to functional and non-functional testing. Final evaluation shows that all mandatory requirements are fulfilled. Only one desirable functionality (automatic detection and removal of commercials) and one optional functionality (automatic selection of Internet sources for complementary information) could not be accomplised but path for future effort is depicted.
