Three Dimensional Virtual Reality Puzzle Game using the Leap Motion Controller

Supervised by S.Maddock

Abstract

The Leap Motion Controller is a piece of hardware that maps a persons hands into a three dimensional scene. This is a very unique way of controlling a game and as such this project investigates using this controller to interact with a 3D paint puzzle game. These controls are solely gesture and UI based so these controls need ti be intuitive for a player to have fun playing the game. The game created involves drawing an object to copy a goal object in a time constraint. To do this they can select different brush types and colours to try to get the best match as fast as they can. The system was tested on a group of users from a gaming background and was considered a success and the controls deemed intuitive.
