Benjamin Wallace Undergraduate Dissertation 2017/18
Implementing An Automatic Dementia Test on the Pepper Robot
Supervised by H.Christensen
Abstract
This dissertation considers the links between robotics and dementia health care. It focuses in on one part of the diagnostic screening process i.e the cognitive assessment or dementia test. In this project a humanoid robot has been programmed to administer the test to healthy human participants. The data obtained on the subjects' experience of the test gives insight into human-robot interaction within the context of cognitive health assessments.
The feedback from participants in the study shows that there is great potential for robots to be used in this field as they combine an engaging experience with a simple interface. This proof of concept can be built on by tackling the problems discovered in the design and implementation of the automatic test.
