Busses without Timetables
Supervised by G.Struth
Abstract
In big cities without dedicated bus lanes, it is often very difficult for busses to satisfy timetabling constraints. Instead, one could abandon the idea of timetables and guarantee instead that buses arrive at bus stops within given time intervals.
This project aims to efficiently control bus arriving intervals. Considering a range of factors, a system is developed to handle scheduling of buses and ensure buses arrive at the bus stop within an acceptable range of intervals
Throughout this project, a simulation model of the system was first designed, to include a range of factors affecting bus arrive time. Then a program was developed to fulfill the requirements for controlling bus arriving intervals, this would be achieved by considering the parameters to determine the optimal time for dispatching buses from the station.
