Automated Responsive Accessibility Testing

Supervised by P.McMinn

Abstract

Currently, the W3 Consortium sets out a series of guidelines of how websites should be created to make sure they are accessible to as many people as possible. However, this is still something which many companies and website developers ignore, due to either budget or time restraints.

In this report, I will discuss why accessibility is important for websites, why it is frequently overlooked by website developers. I will then review possible solutions to these issues, and discuss ways of improving them. Then I will analyse the requirements for developing my own automated accessibility testing software.

My solution will be tested on various mini test websites, and at the end, I will compare its results with other accessibility tools on https://ncgfantasygolf.com. Then I will simulate some potential accessibility issues to confirm whether my implementation of more complicated parts has been successful.
