MSc in Advanced Computer Science

The MSc in Advanced Computer Science is a flexible, research-led programme that provides a route to professional accreditation for graduates with a broad range of computer science backgrounds. The course aims to provide graduates with an education in the most up-to-date aspects of computer science and software engineering, informed by the Department's wide ranging research interests.
By the end of the proposed MSc programme, students will:
  • Be skilled in the analysis, design, implementation and testing of computer software using object-oriented methods.

  • Have acquired industry-relevant managerial and technical skills through the completion of an internal team project.

  • Be able to meet professional accreditation criteria laid down by the British Computer Society, opening the way to CEng chartered software engineer status.

  • Have been exposed to leading-edge research, undertaken research-based project work and developed skills in presenting research findings in a publishable style, thus opening up a future research career.

  • Have been immersed in an academic environment that rewards innovation, fosters a sense of community and encourages students to direct their own learning.
